Check My MOT History

Privacy Policy

Last updated 24 October 2026

We do not keep a list of the number plates you check, and we do not use cookies or track you. This page explains what happens to your data when you use Check My MOT History.

Who we are

NCL PREP SERVICES LTD is responsible for this website and is the data controller for it. You can contact us at hello@checkmymothistory.co.uk.

Number plates

When you check a plate, it is sent from our server to the DVSA MOT History API to fetch the record. To avoid asking DVSA for the same record again and again, Cloudflare may keep a copy of a result for up to one hour, then it is deleted automatically. We do not keep a list of the plates you check and we never see who checked which plate. Your browser may also keep the result for up to one hour so the page loads faster if you check the same plate again.

Cookies

We do not use cookies. The owner / buyer choice on the result page is not saved.

Website statistics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful and how fast they load. It records page views and visits, and how long each page takes to load. For each visit it records the page, the website you came from, your country, your type of device (computer, phone or tablet), your browser and your operating system.

It does not use cookies or local storage, and it does not “fingerprint” you (pick you out from your IP address, browser or other details). Cloudflare says it does not collect or use your personal data, so it does not identify you.

It does not record the number plates you check. A plate goes in the part of the web address after the “?”, and Cloudflare says Web Analytics does not log that part.

Read what Cloudflare says about Web Analytics and privacy.

Calendar reminders

The reminder file is created in your browser. We do not receive it or send you reminders.

Our hosting

Cloudflare hosts this site. It processes technical data, such as IP addresses, to deliver pages and protect the site against attacks. Read Cloudflare's privacy policy.

If you email us

We use your email only to reply to you, and we delete it when we no longer need it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have the right to:

  • ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy
  • ask us to correct data that is wrong
  • ask us to delete your data
  • object to or ask us to limit how we use your data

To use any of these rights, email us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Changes

If we add advertising, we will update this page before it goes live.
